Growing up in New York, I have had the privilege of being familiar with both American and Chinese cultures.  While I feel at home with my heritage, there is a strange disconnect in being unable to speak the language.  New York is full of small pockets of Chinese culture.  The streets are full of Chinese signs, and people who only speak their native tongue.  This painting attempts to depict my conflicting feelings of seeing familiar signs and places, but being unable to understand any of them.
